Middle School

Welcome to the XIS middle school, a close community of learners. Middle school is a time of rapid growth when students develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

To meet the needs of this special age group, we emphasize the development of social skills and learning skills in a supportive environment with opportunities to explore interests. Throughout the day, structured learning is mixed with guided inquiry, project-based learning, and opportunities to reflect on their learning.

As students progress through middle school, they develop greater self-management skills, independence, and critical thinking skills.

I invite you to explore our website and experience the quality programs and supports XIS offers.

Middle School Program Overview

Middle School (grades 6-8) is an influential and dynamic time in a student’s education. Thus, we believe our students deserve the opportunity to not only explore, accumulate, question, and understand the content discussed in each of their subjects, but also to develop themselves on a social and emotional level. We are guided by our belief in aiding and fostering the growth of our learners in a holistic manner.

The XIS middle school curriculum is framed by the Middle Years Programme (MYP), a challenging and holistic framework that is informed by North American and international standards. It allows students to learn about subject-specific concepts, make interdisciplinary connections between subjects, and have opportunities to apply their learning to the real world.

We are committed to providing a challenging, meaningful, and international-minded education to our students, effectively preparing them for the ever-changing world.
